Astroturfing

In brief, this story is about an “individual” who posted comments on several sites, shamelessly plugging the new **** from ******** (I’m not about to give this product/brand any more attention…directly, that is).  The term is Astroturfing and it’s defined as creating false/fake buzz about a product using a grassroots channel.

I hope this was the act of some lowly intern trying to make a name for himself as opposed to a strategic component to ********’s marketing plan devised by the brilliant collective at whatever PR firm brand X uses.  Regardless, it speaks volumes to how stupid this brand or, this individual (depending on which theory you buy into), thinks its customers are.

As it turns out, they’re not so stupid after all.
